Nei "panni" di un Booster

Questo filmato è stato girato in alta definizione, per cui l'immagine è eccezionalmente chiara. Ciò che davvero stupisce è il suono. L'audio è stato rimasterizzato da persone comuni oltre che dalla Skywalker Sound (sì, Skywalker Sound), e il prodotto finale è a dir poco incredibile.



Michael Interbartolo - che ha lavorato allo Shuttle Program presso il Mission Control di Houston - ha avuto da dire questo, riguardo il video, quando lo ha postato questa mattina su Google:

Just got this from the guys at Glenn who are finalizing the new special edition DVD/BluRay version of Ascent: Commemorating Shuttle which this will be an extra on. The video is shot from the Solid Rocket Booster Perspective up and down with enhanced sound thanks to Ben Burtt's son and the folks at Skywalker Sound. The team is still trying to figure out how to release this all to the public, but for now enjoy an exclusive first look.  NASA youtube doesn't even have the video.

Vedete quei numeri in alto a destra? Indicano la velocità dello Shuttle.
Vedete quel barlume di luce sullo sfondo buio pesto nei minuti 2:08 e 3:11? Si tratta della navetta che continua il suo percorso di volo in orbita terrestre bassa (LEO).Sentite il rumore inquietante, inquietanti gemiti e rumori strani che sembrano provenire da dinosauri (spaziali?!) ? Questo è ciò ascolta un Solid Rocket Booster, cadendo a terra da un'altezza di 150.000 piedi (45,72km).
